Mission Statement:
We, the members of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, strive to promote a culture of life by prayer, education, advocacy and pastoral care for everyone, from conception to natural death.
Please join us as we pray the Rosary and Litany using Priests for Life prayer booklet, In the Palm of His Hand, every 2nd Tuesday of each month. We meet after the 9 am Mass at the Memorial for the Unborn in the Courtyard of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
If you feel called to support the Pro-Life movement based on the teachings of the Catholic Church and would like to join our ministry, please contact us. We are always open to new members. Our ministry has expanded in the last year to include more facets of the Gospel of Life. There will surely be a place for you to serve.

- The Gabriel Project (TGP)
Our Diocese is supporting the Gabriel Project under the guidance of the Family and Faith Formation Office of the Diocese. The Project began many years ago and has been saving babies from abortion by helping mom’s with whatever guidance and personal care they may need to bring their child to this world.
The only way that we reach potential women in crisis is through the central Diocesan Hotline 800-910-0191.If you know of someone who is pregnant, worried, and needs help, please have them contact us through the Hotline 800-910-0191. The Central Call Center will take their information and put them in contact with the closest program to where they live. This program helps pregnant mothers in need by providing personal assistance directly to the person in need.
We are looking for all who are interested in volunteering to serve as an Angel or Angel Assistant to provide guidance and personal care to pregnant women who want to keep their babies. This is an ‘action arm’ of the Respect Life Ministry as we provide ‘hands-on’ assistance to individuals in crisis. The Angel is assigned to the crisis mom to become a friend and advocate. We provide training to all Angels. You are not alone in this effort and we work as a team. To recognize births in our Parish, when a child is Baptized, the parents are sent a little gift from the Respect Life Ministry and the Parish Pastor with their Certificate of Birth. Our welcome card indicates that the name of their baby has been placed into the OLMC parish Book of Life and will be prayed for by all parishioners at every Mass throughout the child’s lifetime.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish faithfully supports Alpha Clinics with services offered at the Vacaville Clinic and a Mobile Unit in Fairfield. The potential to reach new people in need of the clinic services is conducted through the annual Baby Bottle Campaign in the Spring. Our next distribution of the Baby Bottle Campaign will be at all the masses one week prior to Mother's Day. It is never too late to return your baby bottle and you can do so at the Parish office or by giving it to any usher at a weekend mass. Did you know that the moment college students set foot on their campuses (any campus), Planned Parenthood propagandist and their allies pounce on them? At some schools, students are handed Planned Parenthood tote bags chock full of FREE CONDOMS and handbooks encouraging them to “experiment”.
In many other colleges, school administrators praise Planned Parenthood as a “trusted resource” for students – providing phone numbers and directions to the nearest abortion facility and offering school credit for students who intern at local Planned Parenthood facilities.At one college in Idaho, students were given “buy-one-get-one-free” coupons for at-home abortion drugs. And just recently, two abortion facilities in Indiana began offering “student discounts” for abortions.
The upcoming school year could be the toughest year yet for Student’s for Life groups to fight this atrocity as this will be the first full semester since last year’s lockdowns. Planned Parenthood and their pro-abortion political allies will be hitting college campuses harder than ever.
What does Student’s for Life do? They have a “Standing With You” Initiative which helps meet the needs of pregnant and parenting young mothers so they know choosing life does not mean they have to drop out of school. They educate their peers about abortion. fight back against the lies of Planned Parenthood, save babies, and help mothers in crisis.This is an internet-savvy generation who texts, emails, tweets, and posts on Facebook and Instagram at hyper-speed. Students for Life know that nothing compares to one-on-one, face-to-face communication. There are 1,250 Students for Life groups on campuses. They have ‘door-knocking’ campaigns and meet people where they are to inform and educate on alternatives and the harm that is done to a woman who chooses to abort.

Spiritual Adoption Program
On July 26, 2013, the Respect Life Ministry launched the Spiritual Adoption Program for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish. The Spiritual Adoption Program was actually first established by the late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen in response to the Roe v. Wade court decision legalizing abortion. Archbishop Sheen encouraged the spiritual adoption of an unborn child by praying that the unknown child's life be spared abortion and be allowed to continue to live.Our first year, 2014, was a great success! 73 babies were spiritually adopted. We had a very diverse group of adoptive parents ranging in age - from elementary to middle school students, parents and great grandparents. Our first Baby Shower and/or Baby Birthday celebration was held on July 27, 2014. We had a very touching and exciting celebration because our adoptive parents shared their personal experiences during the nine months that they made the commitment to pray for their spiritually adopted baby.
The 2020 Program launched in October with 100 babies spiritually adopted. The 2021 Program begins October 1st. Existing participants can continue to pray for another spiritual adopted baby. Spiritual adoptive parents will be contacted monthy by email with a message. Watch for your message and remember to provide your baby's name for our hearts on the posterboard. If you would like to pray for a spiritual adopted baby, contact Phyllis Kaminska at the phone number or email address below.The Spiritual Adoption Program is free!All you do is pray the following prayer for a period of nine months:"Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of (Baby's Name) the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion."
Our Dear Lord God Jesus Christ will definitely bless your efforts. It is a family activity as it allows the family to pray together for a great cause - saving lives!

Education Table and Adjoining Kiosk
The Respect Life Ministry’s main objective is to educate the community and parish on pro-life matters. We do this through the Table located in the Narthex of our church with books, pamphlets, booklets, and materials relating to all Catholic issues. Please stop by our table and learn what we are doing. Topics change with the events and messages, guided by the USCCB calendar of events. This may include any of the events we are undertaking at the time, the Spring and Fall 40 Days for Life Campaigns, or the Annual Walk For Life event that we participate in.
Also, located in the Narthex is this beautiful Kiosk for parishioners to purchase educational, inspirational, and enlightening messages about our Catholic faith. Some selections are available in Spanish.
This is a self-service (on your honor) Kiosk providing booklets, books, rosaries, scapulars, prayer cards, and various items (prices as marked). On the back side of the Kiosk are brochures on many topics. The cost is brought to the parish at the lowest possible prices through Augustine Institute and some Catholic sites. The Kiosk is managed through our Respect Life Ministry and was made possible by a donation from the Knights of Columbus. The funds need to be placed into the slot on the bottom of the kiosk in order to continue to purchase more items. If you have taken items from the Kiosk and not paid for them or placed the funds in some other containers, our parish and ministry loses money. We ask you to please donate the needed funds as soon as possible after taking your selections. Only in this way can the parish continue to bring you these items which can help you to deepen your faith and evangelize (teach) others.
